The Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) is a directorate of the University of Ilorin responsible for facilitating teaching and learning through hybrid interaction (online and physical sessions). The CODL offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are equivalent to the Universities regular programmes, but with more flexibility and convenience for the learners. The CODL provides quality education to a large and diverse population of learners, especially those who are unable to access the conventional mode of education. The Centre offers same curriculum with the conventional degree programmes.

What is the CODL about?

The CODL is a directorate of the University of Ilorin saddled with the responsibility of facilitating

teaching and learning through hybrid interaction (online and physical sessions). CODL programmes are equivalent to the University’s conventional programmes with just the difference in the mode of tutoring which is majorly through electronic platform, LMS and portal for  administration of courses.

Is the CODL programme authentic?

What Certificate will I be issued?

Upon graduation, you will be issued the University of Ilorin certificate like other students.

What is the mode of instruction?

The mode of instruction for CODL programme is through the Centre’s e-learning platform (LMS).

Online classes will be conducted for 12 weeks. The lectures are handled by our facilitators (Professors) and e-tutors.

Can students of CODL participate in the

mandatory NYSC Scheme?

Yes, after a successful completion of your 3 or 4- year course, you will be mobilised for the compulsory NYSC program as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution for all Nigerians. Students above 30 years and Foreign students are exempted.

What programme can I take through the CODL?

The CODL is currently floating the B.Sc Computer Science programme. More programmes will be onboarded soon.

What is the duration of the programme?

B.Sc Computer Science is a 4-year programme for UTME candidates and 3-year programme for Direct Entry (DE) candidates.

What are the requirements to be admitted into

CODL? 

To be eligible for admission into the Computer Science program under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and English Language for a 4 year course.

A’level (IJMB, JUPEB), HND, B.SC, in relevant fields will be admitted for a 3year course.

What privileges can I get to enjoy as a distance

learner?

If you are admitted to the CODL programmes, you have access to the same benefits as the regular students.

How about strike actions?

CODL’s learners are not affected by strike actions.

On matriculation and convocation?

Applicants who are accepted must attend the CODL orientation and matriculation. They will also join the University of Ilorin convocation programme after finishing their programme.

How do I go about payment, and how much?

Instructions will be given on all required payments and their mode. Please wait for the instructions through our official email and portal, which will soon be activated for the 2024/2025 academic session.
